The actor Benedict Cumberbatch was filmed arguing with a cyclist in London, and the internet is losing it over how “deeply British” and “funny” their row is. So, at approximately 5:30pm on Tuesday, Benedict Cumberbatch cycled on an e-bike down London’s St Pancras Road. A second cyclist accused him of *gasp* “running a red light”. According to an onlooker, this cyclist shouted out, “I knew you were going to do that.” A video shows Benedict Cumberbatch leaving his bike, walking across the street, and confronting the other cyclist – who wore burgundy trousers and a balaclava. In a video, Benedict Cumberbatch insists he didn’t bike over a zebra crossing. He says the other cyclist “verbally accused him”. The cyclist claims the actor is “deluded” and “lying”. Somebody who was lucky enough to witness the drama said: “It was crazy. It was such a pompous road rage [incident] it almost felt like it had been staged. He was calling Benedict ‘deluded’ and ‘a liar’. Benedict still managed to charm everyone watching even though he was having a meltdown. They went at each other about five times. It was really busy, and they blocked the lane so no one else could get through. Everyone was just stood there with jaws dropped. These schoolkids asked, ‘Is that Dr Strange?’ and asked for a picture with him. Benedict said, ‘Not at the moment. In a minute.’ He was lovely with them. They were awe-struck.” In case you’re uninitiated: Dr Strange is the superhero who Benedict Cumberbatch portrays in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The onlooker continued: “I don’t condone dangerous driving, but for this guy to follow him and cause an incident like this was worse than Benedict slowly cutting that light.” If you’re wondering, Benedict Cumberbatch apparently did take a selfie with the two fans once the other cyclist had left. One Reddit user joked: “This is so middle-aged man core.” “I love civilised arguments,” another added. “This is the most British thing I’ve seen since the name ‘Benedict Cumberbatch,'” somebody wrote. An X user called the fiasco “road rage, English-style”. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page. Features image credit: SNWS.
