Everyone was hoping to see Kylo Ren return in another Star Wars film, but now Adam Driver has confirmed that he won’t be playing the character again. The actor played Kylo Ren, also known as Ben Solo, in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Although the sequels weren’t very well received amongst the fans, many seem to love Driver’s portrayal of Kylo Ren. But it looks like those days are over. Driver recently appeared on The Rich Eisen Show, where he was asked if he would ever play the character again. He replied, “Yeah, it’s over… No more ‘Star Wars.’” He added, “We tried to do one more, but they’re like, ‘No, he’s dead.’” Driver and director Steven Soderbergh had spent years trying to get a standalone film about Ben Solo made. The project, titled The Hunt for Ben Solo, was meant to bring the character back after his death in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Speaking about the film, Driver explained, “We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it. We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, and they said no. They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.” He also revealed, “We worked on it for a few years, really and earnestly. We got a script together that was really good with Scott Burns, Rebecca Blunt, and Soderbergh and I. We all worked on it… It was awesome. It was really cool. But you know, I don’t get to decide.” During the interview, Eisen also asked Driver whether he’d consider returning if the film were somehow brought back to life. “If they wanted to, fine. But we’re not… It’s not our call,” Driver explained. He then added, “I think the ship has sailed though.” Credit: Lucasfilm Basically, Driver seems to have accepted that the project isn’t happening, even if he’d still be open to it under the right circumstances. And loads of Star Wars fans clearly haven’t given up on the idea either. When news broke that Disney had rejected the film, people actually paid for a plane to fly over Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, with a banner reading “Save The Hunt for Ben Solo”. Talking about that, Driver said, “I didn’t expect that it was going to be billboards and people flying planes over Disney and things like that. That was pretty cool.” Steven Soderbergh has also shared a similar view on the project, saying in April that the film “would have happened, if it was gonna happen”.
