Robert Pattinson broke Suki Waterhouse’s two-year curse, and her dating history proves it

Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse have been together for more than eight years. And according to the actress, that’s quite the achievement considering her previous relationships never lasted longer than two years.

The couple first started dating in 2018, and since then, they’ve gotten engaged and welcomed a daughter together. However, despite rumours that they’ve secretly tied the knot, Suki recently said they’re yet to make things official.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the Daisy Jones & The Six star reflected on her relationship with RPatz, admitting she never expected to find herself in such a long-term romance.

“Before I had only ever gone out with someone for two years, and if it was two years, it would have been a disaster at the end,” she explained.

Well, looking back at her dating history, she’s not wrong. Before the Batman star came along, Suki had several high-profile relationships, including with Bradley Cooper and Diego Luna – but none made it past the two-year mark.

Miles Kane (2011–2013)

Many years back, Suki dated Miles Kane. For the uninitiated, Miles is a solo artist and the co-frontman of The Last Shadow Puppets alongside Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner.

The pair were together for around two years between 2011 and 2013. After they broke up, Miles said that their relationship inspired his 2013 album, ‘Don’t Forget Who You Are’.

He also described Suki as the love of his life in an interview with The Sun. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to keep the relationship going.

Bradley Cooper (2013–2015)

Suki started dating Bradley Cooper in 2013, when she was 21 years old and he was 38. It was this 17-year age gap that garnered a lot of attention at the time.

They made their public debut as a couple at the 2014 SAG Awards where they looked very cosy indeed. But in 2015, they called it quits.

Reports at the time suggested Bradley wanted to settle down and start a family, whereas Suki reportedly wanted to focus on her career in acting and music. That said, neither confirmed the reason for their breakup.

In a 2024 interview with British Vogue, Suki reflected on a difficult period following a public breakup. It’s worth noting that she didn’t explicitly name Bradley in her comments.

“When something very public happens to you and the story behind it is dark and difficult, and you’re actually not doing well, and you can’t explain yourself to the world, that’s very isolating and disorientating,” she said.

Diego Luna (2016–2017)

Next up was Andor actor Diego Luna, who Suki met while working on the 2016 film The Bad Batch.

The pair were romantically linked after being photographed together in Mexico in January 2017. And that year, they were spotted together on a number of other occasions.

Neither Suki nor Diego spoke publicly about their relationship. But reports suggest they dated for around a year before going their separate ways.

Robert Pattinson (2018–present)

And then there’s Robert Pattinson, the man who has broken the pattern. They were first spotted together in July 2018 in London, before making their red carpet debut in 2022. The following year, they got engaged, and the year after that, welcomed their daughter.

Even though there have been rumours that they secretly tied the knot, Suki told The Sunday Times that it’s yet to happen. And when asked about getting married, she suggested they’d either keep things lowkey or go all out with a huge celebration.

“It would either be all or nothing,” she said. “If we were going to go for it we’d have a massive party, blow it out.”

Suki also admitted she was surprised by how long they’ve been together, describing their relationship as a “beautiful thing”.

So, two years with Miles Kane, two with Bradley Cooper, around one with Diego Luna, and more than eight with Robert Pattinson. Looks like the two-year curse is well and truly broken.
