There’s finally a return date for an episode of High Potential season 3, so when is it coming?

We’ve finally got an update on the return of Kaitlin Olson’s crime drama, so here’s when the new episode of High Potential season 3 is releasing.

High Potential fans, there’s a bit of a wait ahead. If you were hoping to see Morgan Gillory back on your screens before the end of 2026, sadly, that’s not happening. ABC has confirmed that season 3 won’t return until 2027, after the show was left off the network’s autumn schedule.

The news comes after season 2 ended on 7 April with a massive cliffhanger. And there’s loads left to sort out, especially after Captain Nick Wagner was shot and Morgan arrived to find him seriously injured.

Is Steve Howey leaving High Potential?

The second season ended with Wagner in serious danger after being shot during a secret meeting with an FBI source. The meeting was connected to information about Morgan’s missing ex, and Wagner’s father, a corrupt politician, had linked him to the source. Morgan then arrived to find Wagner bleeding out. The episode ended with his fate left uncertain.

But Wagner’s future isn’t the only thing we are left wondering about. According to Deadline, Steve Howey’s final appearance as a series regular was in the season 2 finale, as his one-year contract had expired. But that doesn’t necessarily mean Wagner is gone for good. The publication reported that it was unclear whether Howey would leave the series entirely or return as a guest star in season 3.

So, when will High Potential season 3 premiere?

ABC has confirmed that High Potential season 3 has been pushed into 2027. That’s a change from the show’s previous seasons, which both featured in ABC’s autumn schedules. This is the longest break between seasons yet, despite the series being a major ratings success for the network.

The good news is that season 3 is still happening, as the show has been renewed. There is no exact premiere date for the new season just yet. But ABC has announced that a special episode of High Potential is scheduled to air immediately after Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, 14 February 2027.

That gives us at least a date to look forward to. For now, we’ll have to wait for ABC to clarify how the special episode fits into the season 3 launch. What we do know is that new episodes are expected to air on Tuesdays. So, yay!
