After the Crew Girl season 1 finale left Teagan caught between Cam and Josh, viewers are already wondering if there’s going to be season 2, so here’s what the creator has said. The Netflix teen drama ended with loads still up in the air. Josh has decided to focus on himself after revealing his heart condition, Cam has stepped into the stroke seat and kissed Teagan, and a girls’ rowing team is now being set up at Easton Prep. So, is Crew Girl season 2 actually happening? Well, as of the time of writing, Netflix has not officially renewed Crew Girl for a second season. The timing could also take a while. Season 1 was filmed from September to November last year and released on Netflix almost a year later. If the show does get renewed, a second season could potentially arrive in late 2027 or early 2028, depending on when production starts. But obviously, that’s only an estimate. Nothing has been confirmed yet. Vivian Lin has loads of ideas for season 2 Credit: Netflix While Lin hasn’t revealed exactly what would happen next, she has admitted that the writers’ room is already full of theories about the characters. “In the writers’ room, you’re always just gossiping about the characters, so you’re always theorising and gossiping about them, and then eventually things become ‘real life’ for the characters,” Lin told Swooon. “So, we have a lot of gossip about them.” One thing Lin has made clear is that Teagan’s story is nowhere near finished. After everything that happened in season 1, Teagan has finally settled into Easton Prep. But she still hasn’t figured out exactly who she wants to be. “She hasn’t experienced enough yet of her life. She’s just settled in after being upended. And she’s not in her form,” Lin said. Lin previously explained to Deadline that this creates a major question for Teagan going forward. “The thing for Teagan will always be: ‘If you’re a rower, you’re a rower, and you don’t want to be coxing.’ Coxing is a bit of a demotion,” she said. But Teagan actually loves being part of the crew and has discovered a different side of herself through leadership. “She loves it. It explores a side of leadership to her. She loves it because she loves the team, and so there is a real existential question for her going into the next season,” Lin said. So, if season 2 happens, Teagan’s rowing future could be just as important as her love life. And yes, the Cam and Josh situation is still messy Obviously, the biggest question is who Teagan will actually end up with. The season 1 finale deliberately left things unresolved. Josh asked Teagan for another chance after his surgery, but she didn’t immediately take him back. Then Cam kissed her. Lin has made it clear that neither relationship is as simple as choosing one boy and moving on. She explained, “Everything about Teagan and Josh is just instinctual. It’s never thought out. It’s just a feeling and a moment and an opportunity.” She added, “With Cam, it’s a little more… [He] speaks to her rower side and who she wants to be, and they have a common place in life.” Lin also admitted that Teagan still has feelings for Cam. “I think so. I don’t want to diminish that she has real feelings for Josh and that it’s something real, but I also think she’s heartbroken,” she said. “You can hold two things at once, so I think she’s still really wounded from that.” Josh has a lot of growing up to do Credit: Netflix Josh’s heart condition is also going to have a huge impact on his future. Lin said, “He has hidden himself away for so long, and he’s on new footing. His family has been upended, his rowing has been upended.” She added, “He has no idea where he is, and he’s hurt a lot of people along the way to keep a secret. So he’s got a lot of rebuilding to do and a little bit of some redemption.” Lin also confirmed to Deadline that the show is taking Josh’s condition seriously. “We are taking it seriously. He really does have hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, HOCM,” she said. “There are ways to, well, I don’t want to spoil anything. It is serious. We don’t know. Josh doesn’t know. So what does that mean for his life?” That leaves a lot of questions for a potential season 2. Cam also ends season 1 in a very different place Credit: Netflix After struggling with his confidence throughout the season, Lin explained that the change in Cam is important because he is finally starting to believe in himself. She said, “What gave him the courage to kiss Teagan was that he was able to take the mantle for the first time and felt good about himself. And so, there was a new evolution to him where, yes, he had those insecurities, but he found his first step into it.” She added, “But, you know, with great power comes great responsibility, and so I think there is always an insecurity that he can discover or that can rear its ugly head.” There could be even more romance to come If you thought the Cam-Teagan-Josh triangle was already complicated enough, Lin has also hinted that other relationships could shake things up. She specifically mentioned Cam and Madison, Coach Hayden’s daughter. “There’s a vibe,” Lin said. “Something about Madison really brings that out. There’s a special connection there, and I think it’s going to get complicated or messy.” And yes, that could become even more awkward because Madison and Teagan already get along. “So who knows?” Lin added. Right now, there’s no official renewal. So all we have is Lin’s “gossip” about what could happen next. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
