The stock price for Kenvue, the parent company of Neutrogena, dropped earlier this week following the news of Hayden Panettiere’s death. Now, fans are calling for a boycott on the skincare brand. Panettiere, best known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, died on Sunday, August 16, at the age of 36. She was found unresponsive and in cardiac arrest at an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina. Her cause of death has not yet been determined, although an autopsy found no signs of physical trauma and toxicology results remain pending. A police incident report states the 911 call was made by her on-and-off boyfriend Brian Hickerson, who was at the property with his brother. She also spoke about mental health issues, claiming in an interview on the Jay Shetty Podcast that she was fired from her role as cover girl for Neutrogena for speaking out on having postpartum depression after giving birth to her daughter, Kaya, in 2014. What Neutrogena did to Hayden deserves a boycott byu/MaleficKaijus inAnticonsumption Neutrogena is facing widespread backlash following the news of her death. As reported by the Independent, it’s too early to see the long-term impact of this, but the stocks of parent company Kenvue Inc. dropped by over 2% on Monday. Although it’s since stabilised, the calls for boycotting have not. In one Reddit post, a user said, “What Neutrogena did to Hayden deserves a boycott… I will never buy one of their products again in my life.” Hundreds of commenters agreed, while the post received more than 7,000 upvotes. Elsewhere, an X user shared the clip in which Panettiere spoke about being dropped by the company after speaking about having postpartum depression on Live with Kelly and Michael in 2015. She explained that Neutrogena was a huge part of her life and stuck with her through attacks from the paparazzi and media. “And of all the things that they would fire me over, this was the last thing that I thought they would ever fire me over,” she said. Alright. So we all have used Neutrogena face wipes for the last two decades. We need to boycott and find a new brand. What are we using? She just deserved so much better. The hits kept coming at her. 😭😭😭 https://t.co/5tzuNuMhg9 — Briana Rose Lee 🌹☮ (@BrianaRoseLee) August 17, 2026 “I was just being honest, and never for a second did I think that anyone would have a bad reaction to it. It was my truth. So when I got that call that Neutrogena wanted to fire me over that, my representative at the time said, ‘That’s illegal. You can’t do that.’ “Even though she saved the day that year, I knew that that was going to be it, that I was not going to be invited back the next year.” Panettiere claimed she never heard from anyone from the company after that incident. Alongside the footage, the X user wrote, “Alright. So we all have used Neutrogena face wipes for the last two decades. We need to boycott and find a new brand. What are we using? She just deserved so much better. The hits kept coming at her.” Film Shrine has contacted Kenvue for comment. Featured image credit: Erik Pendzich/Shutterstock Post navigation Next story
