Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor has given a pretty brutal update on season two, and it’s not looking great. It’s been four years since the Disney+ series was released, bringing McGregor and Hayden Christensen back together as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader. And ever since it ended, people have been wondering whether we could see the pair return for another chapter. Well, McGregor has now addressed the possibility again. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, McGregor was asked whether he and Christensen were any closer to returning for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. His response was pretty blunt. “Come on, Disney. I don’t think we are, no. I don’t think we are, no. No, I don’t know of any progress in that direction, but I would like to think that there might be.” The good news, if there is any, is that McGregor clearly hasn’t run out of ideas for Obi-Wan. In fact, he already has a pretty obvious place where he thinks another series could begin. And there’s a surprisingly big chunk of Obi-Wan’s life between that moment and the character eventually appearing as Alec Guinness in A New Hope. McGregor thinks there’s loads of material sitting in that gap. “Because we finished this series with me walking off with Liam Neeson on my camel, which is Eopie. And then what happens between then and when it’s Alec Guinness? I mean, there’s got to be a good few stories left to tell. Come on.” Basically, McGregor still seems very keen to get back into the role. But that’s very different from saying Lucasfilm or Disney is actually making another season. Hayden Christensen could come back too Credit: Disney Of course, the other huge question is Darth Vader. Christensen has also said he remains interested in returning. Which means another Obi-Wan Kenobi project could potentially bring the two actors back together again. Christensen’s return would obviously be a massive deal, considering how closely Obi-Wan Kenobi was built around the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker. McGregor and Christensen returning for the first season was already one of the biggest nostalgia moments in modern Star Wars. So seeing them together again would almost certainly get everyone very excited. Welsh actor Rhys Ifans has been cast as the Welsh voice of Obi-Wan for Star Wars: Gobaith Newydd, the Welsh-language version of A New Hope. The project has an entirely new Welsh voice cast.
