After a long-awaited five years, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finally swung into cinemas, bringing with it a four-year time jump. So, how old are the characters now, and how do their ages compare to the actors playing them? One of the biggest mysteries leading up to the film was Sadie Sink’s role. Major spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the film. If you have, you’ll know she plays the X-Men mutant Jean Grey. Since the reveal, loads of people have been wondering just how old Jean is, as well as how old Peter Parker and his friends are after the time jump. So, here’s how old the Spider-Man: Brand New Day characters are, based on the MCU timeline, compared with the cast. Peter Parker Credit: Sony Tom Holland: 30 Peter Parker: Around 22 Peter Parker is one of the easiest characters to place on the MCU timeline. According to Marvel, Peter was born on 10 August 2001. He was 15 in Spider-Man: Homecoming before being blipped during Avengers: Infinity War. Because he didn’t physically age during those five years, and Brand New Day takes place after another four-year time jump, Peter is now believed to be around 22 years old. Tom Holland is 30, making him around eight years older than the version of Peter he’s playing. MJ Credit: Sony Zendaya: 29 MJ: Around 21 or 22 Marvel has never officially confirmed MJ’s age. But because she was in the same school year as Peter and Ned, she’s generally believed to be around 21 or 22 in Brand New Day. That means Zendaya is around seven or eight years older than her character. Ned Leeds Credit: Sony Jacob Batalon: 29 Ned Leeds: Around 21 or 22 Like Peter and MJ, Ned’s exact age hasn’t been confirmed since Spider-Man: No Way Home. But because the three of them grew up together and were classmates, he’s generally thought to be around 21 or 22 as well. Jacob Batalon is 29, so he’s also around seven or eight years older than Ned. Jean Grey Credit: Sony Sadie Sink: 24 Jean Grey: Around 16 to 18 Jean Grey is actually the youngest major character introduced in Brand New Day. Marvel hasn’t officially revealed her age, but the film makes it clear she’s still a teenager. Based on her first appearance in X-Men #1 in 1963, Jean is widely accepted to have been introduced as a 16-year-old. With that in mind, it’s fair to assume she’s around 16, or somewhere between 16 and 18, in the MCU. That means Sadie Sink is around six to eight years older than Jean. Sara Grey Credit: Sony Olivia Booth-Ford: 16 Sara Grey: Around 18 to 20 Sara Grey only appears briefly in the film’s flashbacks, but she ends up being the driving force behind Jean’s entire story. The film confirms that Sara is Jean’s older sister, although it never reveals her exact age. Since Jean appears to be around 16, Sara is generally assumed to be a few years older, likely around 18 to 20. Olivia Booth-Ford is 16, while Sadie Sink is 24. So, even though Sara is the older Grey sister in the story, she’s played by an actress who’s eight years younger than the actress playing her younger sister. Quite fascinating!
