If you want to avoid spoilers, you’re going to want to watch House of the Dragon season three episode four live – especially as it marks a dark turn for Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy). The latest chapter of the Game of Thrones prequel has been action packed, in part due to the fact that the first two episodes were supposed to be the last two of the second season. So far, we’ve had the Battle of the Gullet, before Rhaenyra – helped along by Alicent (Olivia Cooke) – finally took the Iron Throne. But as we saw in season three episode three, it’s not an easy road ahead: The Red Keep is overrun with rats (literal and metaphorical), the crown’s money is running low, and Rhaenyra’s got to find a way to help out the smallfolk. And to top it all off, she finds out that Daeron is an imposter, having been deceived by Ormund (James Norton). The trailer for tonight’s episode shows Ormund and his forces taking Tumbleton, meaning we’re about to enter the next stage of war. One complaint that’s been seen among the fandom is the desire to see Rhaenyra embrace her more ruthless side as the Dance of the Dragons escalates (she has lost her two eldest sons, after all). That’s something we may see more of in season three episode four, as D’Arcy told Variety that Ormund’s deception marks a turning point for their character. “I think there’s something interesting happening with the Ormund deception broadly and I think it marks the beginning of a kind of paranoia for Rhaenyra,” they explained. “Ormund is a totally unknown quantity; he’s this kind of erratic element. And I think increasingly, and we see this as we go forward, he sort of becomes the boogeyman for Rhaenyra, and fuels a broader distrust of her council, her allies, her court at large.” With that being said, you’re going to want to know exactly when it drops so you don’t miss a thing.
