After Jake Short and Off Campus star Mika Abdalla responded to backlash over a resurfaced podcast clip, another moment from the same interview has emerged – and viewers are calling it “horrifying.” Mika has risen to global stardom after taking on the role of Allie in the Off Campus TV show, with her on-screen character and Dean’s (Stephen Kalyn) relationship set to be the focus of season two. Away from the camera, Mika had been in a relationship with A.N.T. Farm star Jake for five years after they met on the set of Hulu’s 2022 movie Sex Appeal. The pair even got engaged last year, but this month, Mika’s reps confirmed that they had broken up. This is all in support of her & I don’t want to be parasocial but honestly thank god. I rly hope she’s doing well but I stopped liking him after this clip. Plus the fact that his bestie, Steven, is married to Candice Bure’s daughter (maga and pro life actress from full house) https://t.co/SH5CHu3BX0 pic.twitter.com/ctuC5EcHDu — Hiss⁷₁₃🍉 | LN1 (@SPICYDDAENG) June 2, 2026 This was seemingly the end of the story, but then a clip resurfaced from a 2024 episode of The Sit and Chat podcast hosted by Jake and fellow Disney Channel star Bradley Steven Perry. The ‘Couples Therapy’ episode also featured Mika and Perry’s partner Natasha Bure, and one moment sees them talking about how they would describe each other. Jake says he has “two words” to describe Mika, before declaring, “Some b*tch.” Both Bradley and Natasha look horrified, and there’s been significant backlash to the joke online, with comments calling it “disgusting” and “problematic.” what a loser pic.twitter.com/hMalQhCZs2 — nessa (@fcburkhart) June 6, 2026 Jake and Mika shared a joint statement to Us Weekly shutting down the discourse, saying “it’s hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other.” Alongside this, Jake apologised, writing “I made a disrespectful, juvenile joke” and “it’s imperative to me that I take accountability as I am aware that it was inappropriate.” Again, this was presumably the end of the story, but now another clip from that same podcast is causing upset among the Off Campus fandom. The moment in question sees Jake and Mika describing how they first got together. Jake recalls how they had some “very intimate scenes” in Sex Appeal, and so he suggested “we should just talk about” it. But Mika quickly jumps in with her own version of events, saying, “He was like, ‘Do you want to get together and rehearse?’” while pulling a face before bursting out laughing. @useroffcampus #mikaabdalla #jakeshort #fyp ♬ som original – ❤️ Jake defends himself, insisting, “I said, ‘Go over the scenes,’” to which Mika fires back, “What do you mean ‘go over the scenes’?” Trying to clarify, Jake explains that at the time they didn’t know exactly how the scenes would play out and wanted to discuss them beforehand. But Mika doesn’t let him off the hook that easily. “And then he brought over a bottle of wine to go over the sex scenes,” she jokes. “You’re kidding,” host Bradley responds, but Jake argues, “We were hanging out.” Again, it’s another lighthearted conversation, but the clip has left many fans shocked. “This is horrifying,” wrote one in the comments, while another said, “She deserves better.” A third added, “I’m lost on why he thought that was a good idea. I mean, clearly it worked but like… dude.” And a fourth chimed in, “It keeps getting worse.” Film Shrine has reached out to Jake and Mika’s representatives for comment.
