*Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Off Campus books* We won! Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla) are officially the main couple of Off Campus season two. While this is great news, that means one character’s death could very well get pushed up. Showrunner Louisa Levy confirmed the Dallie news this week, saying in a statement, “We are so excited to continue Allie and Dean’s story as our primary romance of season two after kickstarting their romance in season one. “But if you fell in love with Hannah and Garrett, don’t worry – they will still be an integral part of our robust ensemble. We’re looking forward to telling the next chapter of everyone’s story.” The Prime Video show is based on Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus book series, and while both versions are lighthearted and full of love, they aren’t afraid to tackle the more difficult themes. Season one, for instance, explores how Garrett (Belmont Cameli) helps Hannah (Ella Bright) to overcome past trauma after she was sexually assaulted in high school. Readers of the books will know that Dean and Allie’s novel, The Score, handles one character’s grief after a shocking death. I’m so sorry, but Beau Maxwell dies in the book Credit: Prime Video Yes, Beau Maxwell (Khobe Clarke) dies in The Score, with Dean’s grief serving as a major part of the plotline. Beau was introduced in season one of the Off Campus TV show as Dean’s best friend and fellow student at Briar U. He’s also Dean’s best friend in the books and a college quarterback. Beau then appears in the second novel, The Mistake, and plays a more prominent role in the third – Dean and Allie’s The Score. But sadly, tragedy strikes. The moment happens when Dean returns back to campus after spending time with his family and Allie. After a training session with Hunter (yes, they start out as friends), he heads home to find everyone eerily quiet. Dean pushes them for answers before Garrett admits that Beau died “on impact.” The incident is told from Dean’s perspective as his friends relay what happened. “It’s not a very long story. But it’s a gut-wrenching one. Beau flew to Wisconsin this weekend for his grandmother’s birthday. I already knew this – he called me before he left. We made plans to grab beers on Tuesday night,” the chapter reads. One couple made a deal. The next one is keeping score. ❤️🔥🏒 From Garrett & Hannah to Dean & Allie — the Off Campus love story continues in Season 2. pic.twitter.com/MTANP7EscS — Off Campus (@offcampusonpv) May 28, 2026 “Last night, the Maxwells celebrated Grandma’s ninetieth at a restaurant in her small town. The roads were icy. They took two cars – Beau was with his dad. His dad was driving. Joanna told Coach Deluca that dinner was a ton of fun. “On the drive back, Beau’s father swerved to avoid hitting a deer that darted out in front of their car. The car hit a patch of black ice. It flew off the road, flipping over twice. Then it slammed into a tree. “Beau’s neck snapped on impact. His father didn’t have a scratch on ’im. I swallow another mouthful of whiskey. It burns my throat and sets my insides on fire. My eyes are on fire too. “They’re hot and stinging, and when Garrett finishes speaking, I scrape my chair back and pick up the bottle.” The tragedy has a profound impact on Dean, with much of the remainder of The Score focusing on his grief and the aftermath of losing his best friend. What makes the situation even sadder is how it affects his and Allie’s relationship, with Allie breaking up with him. Don’t fret, as they end up getting back together. Eventually, they get married, have three kids, and name their firstborn Beau. I’m not crying, you’re crying. Could the show change Dean and Allie’s most controversial storyline? Credit: Prime Video Some fans believe that the show will tackle the breakup differently in the show by showing it earlier on in Off Campus season two. “In the book, Allie breaks up with Dean after Beau’s death and that’s when she has her period of self-discovery being single,” wrote one Redditor. “I understand why she does it, but it’s sh*tty to dump your partner while they’re really struggling to deal with grief, especially given it was only three weeks after Beau’s death.” “I think the show is using the Hunter situation to essentially have their break up and her self-discovery at the start of season 2 instead,” they added. “So that when Beau’s death happens, she doesn’t actually leave him. It might still really impact their relationship, but I can’t see them having her leave him, given the way they’ve approached the show so far.” Others agree, with one suggesting they may even change the “call Dean” moment in the book. @cassiesbooktok The girls that get it get it #offcampus ♬ original sound – Sports🏈🥇🏀🥈 For the uninitiated, this moment is a huge turning point in The Score, unfolding when Allie is left devastated after a horrible encounter with her ex. Garrett and Hannah come to rescue her, and since she doesn’t have her phone, she asks Hannah to “call Dean” to come console her. It’s this moment her relationship with Dean is made public. Multiple cast members have mentioned it in interviews or TikTok clips, meaning we should be getting some version of this scene in season two. As theorised by one Redditor, “Honestly I’m also convinced the ‘Call Dean’ moment is going to be morphed into a ‘Call my Allie Cat’ moment after Dean is left emotionally wrecked by Beau’s death. “Would be kind of nice to see Dean become emotionally really open with Allie again after the emotional walls they’re bound to put up super tall after the whole Hunter season 1 ending. Idk, I’m so excited to see how it plays out regardless.” Fans are convinced Off Campus already spoiled Beau’s fate As if book readers weren’t worried enough already, some fans are convinced Off Campus season one quietly hinted at Beau’s fate. erm guys.. that’s dean and beau as maverick and goose. TALK ABOUT FORESHADOWING WTF pic.twitter.com/jgaH9v1TlV — dia (@w3llsycat) April 23, 2026 At the costume party where Dean and Allie meet (and dance to J-Lo), Dean and Beau dress up as Maverick and Goose from Top Gun. For those unfamiliar, Goose is famously killed in a tragic accident, leaving Maverick devastated by grief. Plenty of viewers were quick to realise the potentially ominous Easter egg. Over on X, one wrote, “Erm guys… That’s Dean and Beau as Maverick and Goose. TALK ABOUT FORESHADOWING WTF.” Whether it was an intentional nod or a complete coincidence remains to be seen, but if Prime Video follows The Score, we have every reason to be nervous about Beau’s future.
