Cassie married Nate in season three episode three of Euphoria… then moved out just one episode later. Will Cassie and Nate end their marriage in Euphoria? What options do they actually have if they want to be rid of each other? We consulted the Judicial Branch of California’s self-help guide to find out. Would Cassie and Nate qualify for an annulment? In the state of California, there are upwards of eight legal reasons a judge can annual a marriage. The Euphoria characters Cassie and Nate would not qualify for many of them. They were both over 18, aren’t related, aren’t married to other people, are able to consummate the marriage (even if they don’t want to) and weren’t forced. You can get a marriage annulled if one partner was “unsound mind”. Nate and Cassie both seem pretty unhinged and delulu to Euphoria viewers. However, they did comprehend they were getting married, and knew what marriage is. Plus, they seem to have lived together as a married couple for a short time, while Nate was getting was toe repaired. So, it’s pretty unlikely a judge would consider Nate or Cassie to be of “unsound mind”. Ah, domestic misery(Image via HBO) Cassie’s best shot of getting an annulment would be to argue she was tricked into the marriage. The Judicial Branch of California’s site explains: “If the other person lied to you or kept something from you in order to get you to marry them (and had you known the truth you would not have married them), you can ask for an annulment within four years of finding out about the fraud.” Cassie would have to prove to a judge that Nate was a million dollars in debt, was mixed up in organised crime, and that the marriage put her in physical danger. She’d also need proof she didn’t know, and she wouldn’t have married Nate if he had told her. I totally believe Cassie wouldn’t have gone through with the wedding to Nate if she couldn’t have had $50,000 of flowers. But Cassie may have a hard time proving all this to a judge. Mysterious mobsters might not keep the most detailed accounts, or be up for coming to a court with Cassie to deal with her relationship drama. It’s pretty unlikely Cassie and Nate will get a divorce within the next few episodes The happiest day of her life! (Not)(Image via HBO) Cassie could always divorce Nate. It’s unlikely the couple would qualify for a speedier “summary dissolution”. Even though they’ve been married for less than five years, Nate’s stunning house must be worth way more than $25,000, and he has well over $4,000 of debt. That makes the process more complicated. Instead, Cassie could file papers to start a divorce case. Unfortunately for her, the law in California enforces a six-month waiting period before a judge can finalise a divorce. Season one of Euphoria took place over four months, and season two covered a period of five months. I’m not convinced Cassie can fit in divorce proceedings before season three wraps up in four episodes’ time. Sozzles. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
