Black Noir (well, the second one) behaved very differently in season five of The Boys to when when we met him in season four. He barely said a thing, just like the first Black Noir. The actor who portrays Black Noir in The Boys – Nathan Mitchell – has revealed that this change was down to a deleted scene. Black Noir’s story in season five makes so much more sense now. Do you remember The Boys season five episode four, when Black Noir II argued with The Deep? Black Noir yelled: “You think going full method is easy? Do you know how hard it’s been to not talk? My most powerful instrument, and I can’t even use it. But I f**king committed. I have given everything to this role.” In an interview with Gold Derby, Nathan Mitchell shared the reason Black Noir II decided to start “method acting” as his predecessor. Noir and The Deep argue about him ‘going method’(Image via Prime Video) He explained: “There’s a deleted scene in episode eight of season four, where Noir is basically scared into being method. Noir is in this world kind of bumbling around, not really getting the gravity of everything and how dangerous Homelander is. After that moment, he really understands that this man could kill him at any second. “In season five, he’s working for Homelander, but he doesn’t buy into this vision that Homelander is God. He just knows that’s the company line. He’s like, ‘This is my boss who could kill me, so I better fall in line.'” Nathan Mitchell’s description seems very similar to a deleted scene that was included in the Blu-Ray and DVD versions of the show. In the clip, Homelander asks Black Noir if A-Train ever said anything about why he turned on him. He then delivers a super creepy monologue about all the people who have betrayed him so far. “F**k all of them,” Homelander rambles, “f**king Sage, Starlight, Maeve, Stillwell… they all stab me in the back, like Caesar! Just like Caesar! Even my own son is rebelling.” Homelander then wraps his fingers around Black Noir’s next, and whispers: “Your predecessor was a good listener too. He was my favourite. I could tell him anything. But it turned out he was keeping the biggest secret of all from me.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by THE BOYS (@theboystv) It’s all unbelievably creepy. I’m not surprised Black Noir decided to start “being method”, and pipe down in season five. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
