The ending of season five episode six of The Boys was pretty chilling. Soldier Boy gave Homelander the V1, and he evolved into a super-powerful Super. Eek. You might have missed this, but a sneaky hidden detail in the credits hints at what will happen with Homelander in the last two episodes of The Boys. It’s not good news. A very specific piece of music plays during the credits of season five episode six Stick around after Homelander takes the V1, and watch the end credits. You’ll hear a deranged violin. The tune playing in the credits isn’t random – it’s actually very important throughout The Boys, and is a big clue about what could happen in the finale. The music has a hidden meaning The piece of music starts off as sounding quite cohesive. Then the violins slip out of the rhythm, and hit the wrong notes. The composer Sean Wilson explained: “We ended season three with this violin theme, as Homelander goes crazy. That piece started with Hughie going crazy in season one. I’ve changed and done variations on that. It’s a classical violin but played in a very sloppy, aggressive way. Having that kind of thing bend and go out of tune has become part of our world.” Basically, the violin loses the plot. So, when this piece of music pops up, it’s a sign that Homelander is also losing his grip on reality, The song is played at particularly important moments for Homelander The theme first appeared in season two episode five. That’s when footage goes viral of Homelander accidentally killing somebody, the public turns on him, he fantasises about murdering them all, and he freaks out in a corridor. The music is on the season two soundtrack as “Homelander in Hallway”. You can find it as “I Can Do Anything / Finale“. The creepy violin returns for the post-credit scene after season four, when Steven Calhoun shows Homelander that Soldier Boy is alive. Ta-da!(Image via Prime Video) So, what does all this mean for Homelander in the finale of The Boys? The music only plays when Homelander reaches a new level of delusion and insanity (and often when he’s formulating some new evil plan). So, it seems that after taking the V1, Homelander loses what little grip on reality he has. The music hints he is plotting something especially diabolical – potentially an attack that results in the deaths of three of The Boys in episode seven. Help. I’m scared.
