The Boys season five episode seven – aka the penultimate episode of the show – will be coming to Prime Video next week. We don’t know for sure what will go down, but the title may give us a clue and it’s not looking good. Up until now, the fifth and final season of the superhero satire has focused on The Boys’ attempts to stop Homelander. A spanner was thrown in the works when it was discovered that a sample of V1 – Frederick Vought’s original Compound V, which renders people immortal – exists somewhere in the world. The two sides have been racing to get their hands on it, leading to this week’s episode. Soldier Boy manages to get it off Bombsight, only to then simply hand it over to Homelander, who swiftly injects it into his veins. Now, given how The Boys comics turn out, it’s not outrageous to predict that by the finale, the gang will find a way to stop Homie before he destroys the entire planet. But before then, there will no doubt be deaths. So far, the only notable season five deaths are Firecracker (killed by Homelander) and Black Noir 2 (killed by Deep). But if the episode seven title is anything to go by, things are about to get brutal. Why The Boys season 5 episode 7 title has fans panicking Credit: Prime Video The Boys season five episode seven is titled ‘The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk’ – meaning Frenchie, Kimiko, and Mother’s Milk could die in this installment. Yes, this might be a reach, but there are a couple of things to notice here. Firstly, there’s the fact that TV shows tend to include a character’s name in the title when something significant is about to happen to them. And given this is the penultimate episode of The Boys ever, this could be their time to bow out. Secondly, the title is using their names from the comics – the Frenchman is Frenchie, the Female is Kimiko (her name was made up for the series), and The Man Called Mother’s Milk, well, that one’s self explanatory. It feels oddly final. Could this be a homage to the source material as that’s the last time we’re going to see these characters alive? Credit: Prime Video Some fans certainly think so, with one writing on Reddit, “Normally, in TV shows, if an episode title is a character’s name, doesn’t that character usually die? “The episode titled ‘The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk’ frankly scared me. Do you think the series will resemble the comic book timeline?” How exactly do Kimiko, Frenchie and Mother’s Milk die in The Boys comics? It’s no secret that The Boys TV show is only inspired by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comics of the same name, so we can’t look to it for certainty over any character’s fate. You see, things go horribly wrong for The Boys in the final arc of the comics after Butcher fully commits to wiping out all supes – and anyone connected to Compound V. By this point, he’s become increasingly unstable and decides the only way to stop another Homelander situation is total extermination. Mother’s Milk is the first to go in #68 when he confronts Butcher after realising he’s gone too far. Butcher responds by detonating a grenade in front of MM’s face, before suffocating him. Frenchie and Kimiko die next in #69 after discovering Butcher has rigged The Boys’ headquarters with explosives. Realising there’s no escape, Frenchie confesses his love for Kimiko moments before the building detonates, killing them both instantly. Their deaths ultimately set up the comic’s final confrontation between Butcher and Hughie. Horrified by what he’s done to the rest of the team, Hughie stabs Butcher in the chest, killing him. Eric Kripke has already warned fans about ‘lots of death’ Obviously, the Prime Video series won’t take the exact same route (in the comics, we find out that Black Noir is actually a Homelander clone who’s been committing all of these horrifying acts, causing the real Homelander to think he’s lost his mind). Creator Eric Kripke teases that no one is safe in #TheBoys final season and that he hopes they don't "sh*t the bed" 👀 pic.twitter.com/ibmdzmNKCb — Total Film (@totalfilm) August 17, 2024 But we do know that there will be some brutal deaths. This was revealed by showrunner Eric Kripke in a 2024 conversation with Total Film. “There will probably be lots of death… “So many series finales suck, and it’s really hard to land the plane,” he said. Kripke added, “There’s no guarantee of who’s gonna survive because we don’t have to keep them for another season, so you can have really shocking, big things happen all the time.” We’ll have to wait for season five episode seven to find out if these predictions come true (out Wednesday, May 13th, FYI).
