Viewers of The Boys have clocked that there’s a huge plot hole in season five episode six – and now Soldier Boy’s sudden decision to give Homelander the V-One makes even less sense. So, in the new episode of The Boys, Soldier Boy changed his stance (for like, the tenth time) and chose to give Homelander these godlike abilities. His logic behind this was that Clara/Liberty/Stormfront/Etc would have wanted Homelander to have the V-One. It seems that when Bombsight spoke about how much he loved Golden Geisha, Soldier Boy recalled how much he cared about Stormfront. Soldier Boy says: “Clara used to say the craziest sh*t: That I was the strongest Supe alive, the ultimate expression of what we could be. But she was wrong. She hadn’t met you yet.” So, the whole plot hinges on how much Soldier Boy loved Stormfront. Urgh, this was not his best decision(Image via Prime Video) However, it doesn’t make sense for Soldier Boy to be super in love with Stormfront all of a sudden. He did make one throwaway comment about sleeping with her back in season three. The joke spawned the fan theory that Stormfront might be Homelander’s biological mother. But back in season three, it was really clear that the Crimson Countess was the love of Soldier Boy’s life. He told her: “I loved you. All those years… that they burned me and that they pumped me full of poison, I held onto the hope that you would come. That you would save me. Because I still loved you.” He tracked her down as soon as he could. When she says she never actually loved him, Soldier Boy is so upset that he causes a huge explosion (and kills her). Remember that one?(Image via Prime Video) Yes, I know that it is possible to develop romantic feelings for two whole people over the course of 107 years. But given what we know about Soldier Boy’s feelings for the Crimson Countess, I don’t buy that he’s also been down bad for Stormfront this whole time. You’d think that if Soldier Boy loved Stormfront enough to endanger the whole world for her, he might have name-dropped her, like, more than once? So, maybe Soldier Boy has a secret plan, and he didn’t really give Homelander the V-One out of eternal devotion to Stormfront. Or, maybe the show’s writers forgot what happened two seasons ago, and left this big gaping plot hole. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
