The Boys season five episode six is here, meaning there are just two more episodes until the show wraps up for good. So, why exactly are new supes like Bombsight and Golden Geisha taking up airtime? Well, like it or not, Prime Video doesn’t want to let the beloved IP go. Although Gen V was rather inexplicably cancelled before it could get a third season, prequel spinoff Vought Rising is in the works and set to drop in 2027. The series is set in the 1950s, focusing on the early days of Vought, including Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), Stormfront (Aya Cash), and newcomer Bombsight (Mason Dye). Rather than introducing him fresh, he gets some backstory in The Boys. Season five episode six sees the gang racing to get hold of the V1 before Homelander, and it turns out that Bombsight has the last remaining sample. He’s saving it for his one true love, Golden Geisha, aka Goldie – but she’s not keen on living forever. Who are Bombsight and Goldie? In other words, they aren’t in the source material: Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comics of the same name. Even though they’re new to the show, they’re both literally old. Bombsight – real name Robbie – is an old ally of Soldier Boy’s. He served as a combat pilot in the US Armed Forces before being injected with V1 as part of Frederick Vought’s early experiments. He went on to become a WWII-era supe alongside Soldier Boy. Much like the modern-day supes, Bombsight was part of the Vought machine – as we previously learned, he once starred in the 1953 movie The Curse of Fu Manchu. As well as being immortal and not aging thanks to the V1, his powers include the ability to levitate and propel himself through the air at rapid speeds, alongside superhuman strength, durability, and hearing. As for Golden Geisha (Naoko Mori), she is another older supe, having been primarily active in the 1970s. Even though she’s aged, she still looks a lot younger than her actual age – around late ‘80s – due to her being a supe. He wants her to take it so they can live forever, together, but Goldie shuts him down. She doesn’t want immortality. As she puts it, “Summer is only beautiful when you know winter is coming.” Her powers include the ability to generate and manipulate energy, which she can use to create a protective forcefield around whatever she chooses. We see this in full force when she uses it to protect Kimiko from Bombsight. While the two new supes are receiving plenty of praise as creative new additions to the lineup, multiple The Boys fans are complaining that they’re the focus of the new episode given it’s the final ever season of the Prime Video series. The Boys fans complain new supes are ‘ruining’ season 5 In the pre-episode discussion on The Boys season five episode six, one fan wrote, “Bombsight better be cool, it feels like I’ve been hearing about this guy all f**king season.” Literally all bombsight did was show up and do fucking nothing adding nothing WHYYY is he here — tea 🌈 (@horrifichymns) May 6, 2026 Another replied, “I hate how the spinoffs are ruining this, that and the references to Gen V that never payoff.” Others have raised the fact that Gen V was cancelled, including this person who said, “Set up a spinoff as important to the show, cancel spinoff, start soft launching a different spinoff. They are what they satirize.” A fourth chimed in, “Regardless of what we feel about his character, I think we will all understand that we shouldn’t be spending so much time with him in episode f**king six, the third last episode of the entire series.” Some fans are a little more hopeful, however, believing that episode seven and the finale will be worth the wait. “I hope things ramp up ASAP. My theory is the next episodes have the majority of the season’s budget and that’s why this season has been a bit of a slog fest so far,” said one. “They haven’t built tension as well as I think they could have, but this show has earned a big grand exit – so I’m hesitant but excited.” Credit: Prime Video And others have theories about how this storyline could end up paying off. If you recall, the latest episode shows Soldier Boy depowering Bombsight so he can spend his remaining years with Goldie. Perhaps this was a test run – he knew Homelander wasn’t going to give up finding the V1. By giving it to him and pretending to be on his side, he may be biding his time before depowering his son for good. “Soldier Boy did a test run on Bombsight and figured out he can depower the ones with V1. Maybe his plan is to do the same to Homelander?” wrote one. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
