Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, pushed back against her father’s biopic last year when one of the actors praised her support. In what might be the most controversial film of 2026, set for release on April 24, director Antoine Fuqua addressed the life and legacy of Michael Jackson. Starring Colman Domingo, Jaafar Jackson, and Miles Teller, the film was predictably met with a lot of backlash due to the controversies surrounding the late musician – and it’s not even out yet. Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris slammed the ‘inaccuracy’ Last year, Colman Domingo, who plays the family patriarch Joe Jackson, praised Paris’s contribution to Michael at the amfAR benefit gala for Aids research. He claimed that Paris and her brother, Prince, were “very much in support of our film”, but she had a different version of events. “Don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had zero per cent involvement in lol that is so weird,” she said on Instagram. “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest / didn’t sit right with me, and when they didn’t address it, I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and God speed.” On her Instagram story, she further detailed how she stepped back “because it’s not my project.” Paris continued: “They’re going to make whatever they’re going to make. A big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it. “A big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it.” “The narrative is being controlled and there’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me. Go enjoy it. Do whatever. Leave me out of it.” Credit: Lionsgate What do the rest of the Jackson family think? Given that the film is set for release this month, there aren’t currently a lot of opinions floating about the internet. That being said, the film is backed by a number of the Jackson family. For one, Michael is being played by the singer’s real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson, and the film was made with support from the Jackson estate. Michael’s mother, Katherine, said: “It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers.” Though most of the family seemed to enjoy the film at this week’s premiere, sources told TMZ that Janet Jackson was not feeling the vibe. It reportedly sparked arguments between the icon and the rest of her family. Whether opinions change is yet to be seen. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
