The Wicked obsessed with eyes of a hawk have spotted a major wardrobe malfunction error, and it’s Ariana Grande who came victim of it. The film has about a billion amazing costumes, so it’s not too shocking that one managed to go awry. But as soon as you clock it, you can’t unset it – and everyone’s wondering how the hell this clip got released without someone stepping in and going hang on a minute, let’s get that fixed up.

The Wicked wardrobe malfunction error happened to Ariana Grande, but thankfully – it wasn’t actually in the final film. Instead, it was released in a promotional video. But when the film went viral, it resurfaced – and everybody is wondering how the hell it happened.

Can you see it? Have you looked closely? Here it is even more obviously:

Yep, the armpit has a big rip in it.

If you want to watch out for this in the film when you head to the cinema to see Wicked, you’ll be gutted to know it never actually made the Final Cut. It is, however, still on YouTube in a behind the scenes video about the theme of friendship in Wicked – and how Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo mirrored their characters in real life and formed a really special bond.

When the tweet pointing out the Ariana Grande wardrobe malfunction error in Wicked, a lot of fans were quick to theorise how it happened. One theory that’s actually my favourite says “that’s where she was holding space for the Defying Gravity lyrics. So fucking true, diva.

One of the more plausible ones is the fact that sometimes costume departments do this on purpose to allow actors more freedom when swinging their arms about in role – and they can edit the patch out in post production. That way, when dancing, there’d be no restriction. Either way, it’s iconic.
