Sinners 2: Here’s everything Ryan Coogler and the cast have said about a potential sequel
As Sinners continues to rise in popularity, dominating the box office, could we see a sequel any time soon?
By now, I’m sure you’ve all been to see Sinners, and have been blown away by the incredible plot and super talented cast.
For those who stayed for the post-credits scenes, you’ll also know that director Ryan Coogler left the door open for a potential sequel.
In the first post-credits scene, we see Sammie as an older man living in the 1990s. He’s still performing, and has just finished a gig when Stack and Mary appear. They explain to Sammie how they survived that night, and leave shortly after.
So, now we know Stack and Mary are still alive, could we see another Sinners movie?

Ryan Coogler has spoken openly about this proposal, explaining to Ebony that he wants his films “to feel like a full meal”, adding: “I wanted it all there”.
He also expressed that he never thinks about the potential for a sequel, saying his time working on franchises made him want to create something that felt “original and personal to me”.
So, whilst the movie finished with a potential for a sequel to be made, it doesn’t seem like Ryan is looking to create Sinners 2 anytime soon.
However, a number of the cast members have expressed their willingness to be part of a sequel if that opportunity arose.
Jack O’Connell, who plays Rennick in the film told GQ that he’d be interested in a prequel focusing on his character’s origins.
“That’s a fucking fantastic character to step into,” he said. “So if Coogler’s up for it, I am.”
Michael B Jordan was another cast member who claimed he’d be “up for” another Sinners film.

Speaking to GamesRadar+, he said: “I mean, you know, I’m always… I’d be up for it.” However, Ryan, who was being interviewed with MBJ, explained that it’d be a “no” from him as “my favourite movies are ones where it feels like a world was happening before and a world is gonna happen after.”
Although, some fans think there could be a potential for change as Sinners significantly surpassed box office predictions. It’s currently approaching $250 million at the box office, and is the first wholly original live action film to hit $200 million in the US since Gravity in 2013.
So, maybe minds will change as Sinners continues to grow in success, but I guess, only time will tell.
