You’ve probably watched Sinners by now, or if you haven’t you’ve at least heard about the raunchy scene where Hailee Steinfeld spits in Michael B Jordan’s mouth.

Sinners is a horror film set in the early 1930s focusing one two twins, Stack and Smoke, and their cousin Sammie, as they work to open a new blues joint in town. However, the opening night is soon plagued by a darkness, more sinister than anything they’ve encountered before.

Hailee plays Mary, a former lover of Michael B Jordan’s Stack. During the film, they partake in a rather saucy sex scene in which Hailee, whilst getting it on with Michael, spits in his mouth.

Well, this little moment has had many people wondering how they actually filmed it.

Turns out it was filmed without CGI. Yes, you read that right.

According to someone working on the film, Hailee spit some “syrup” of an unknown variety into Michael’s mouth whilst she was on top of him, letting it fall demurely into his mouth.

In a screenshot of the supposed movie worker talking on social media, they said: “I worked on the film and it was all practical on camera. It was syrup (unknown) that Hailee would have in her mouth, and then she actually dripped it into MBJ’s mouth.”

The worker than also confirmed that there wasn’t a tube feeding the spit from the side of her face, so it really did come out of her mouth.

They continued by saying there were “many takes” of this scene, with Hailee allegedly making “many comments” about how she didn’t like the syrup. Fair enough, I guess.

The film has been praised internationally, doing incredibly well at the box office. According to IMDb, it brought in 81 per cent more than its budget by the second weekend of its release.

It also sits at number one in the box office, with rumours swirling that it may be re-released in IMAX. So you lucky things will get to see that waterfall of spit on the big screen.
