Here’s the reason Sydney Sweeney called off her engagement to Jonathan Davino

‘She’s not ready to settle down’

Sydney Sweeney is single again. The Euphoria star has reportedly ended her engagement to fiance Jonathan Davino, and according to sources, it had been a long time coming. While the couple had been together since 2018 and engaged since 2022, insiders said Sweeney’s skyrocketing career played a major role in the split.

‘She didn’t feel right about it’

Rumours about trouble in their relationship started swirling after reports claimed Sweeney and Davino were living separately. Now, a source told People that the actress ultimately called it off because she didn’t feel ready to settle down.

“She’s exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects,” the source shared.

And Sweeney’s schedule is no joke. She is packed with major roles, including a new season of Euphoria, a movie adaptation of The Housemaid, and playing both boxer Christy Martin and Hollywood icon Kim Novak. While her career is thriving, planning a wedding wasn’t exactly at the top of her priorities.

“What did make her overwhelmed though was her relationship and her wedding. She didn’t feel right about it,” the source added.

‘It was hard for her to break it off’

Despite the breakup, there’s reportedly no bad blood between Sydney Sweeney and fiance Davino. Insiders said their engagement split wasn’t about a lack of love—just bad timing. “She’s not ready to settle down. They only lasted this long because it was hard for her to break it off,” the source explained.

If there was ever any doubt about the breakup, Sweeney’s recent Instagram posts seem to confirm it. She’s removed some photos of Davino and has been posting plenty of solo shots—including bikini snaps, a jet ski adventure with friends in Tanzania, and a glamorous beachside pose. Oh, and then there’s the fact that she was just seen at Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell’s sister’s wedding in Texas. Powell, of course, was at the centre of dating rumours with Sweeney last year, and while they both denied anything romantic at the time, people are definitely side-eyeing their friendship all over again.

Sweeney rarely speaks publicly about her relationships, but she previously told Glamour UK in 2023 that she values her privacy. In another interview, she made it clear that she stands on her own two feet financially, saying, “I’m a very successful, independent woman who’s worked really hard. I’ve accomplished and bought everything myself, and I provide for myself and my family.”

Good for you, gal.
