A gigantic storm is coming for LA, just in time to ruin your weekend plans
Brace yourselves for the rainpocalypse
It’s time to dust off our umbrellas and prepare for the end.
All morning, cold winds and sprinkling rain have pervaded our walks to class. It’s annoying when everything is a minimum fifteen minutes away. But I hate to break it to you: things are about to get a LOT worse.
An incoming storm is expected to hit Southern California this weekend, and it’s going to be a big one. In fact, people predict this to be the biggest storm to hit our region in years.
SoCal is expecting over six inches of rain starting this afternoon. News alerts have also offered the pleasant promise of flooding, mudslides, choppy waters, and strong gale winds.
The last recorded storm to this magnitude was in 2004. After years of drought and acclimation to the SoCal sun, roads have already been shut down and it’s not even past lunchtime.
We’re already seeing the storm start to roll in, and it doesn’t look like things are going to stop anytime soon. Caution signs are being placed in entryways. Students huddle in solidarity under overturned umbrellas. People have even stopped flyering on BruinWalk, so you know it’s a big deal.
If you’re not prepared, umbrellas are sold at Ackerman Union for $18, or you can rent one from your residential front desk.
Good luck out there. If you need us, we’ll be in the library, binge-watching The Office and waiting for things to brighten up.
