Mary Millus, a student at RISD, died this weekend says President

A tragic loss

A female student died at RISD this weekend.

Mary E. Millus, a sophomore in Illustration, was confirmed to have died in an email from the President of the Rhode Island School of Design today.

Writing to the community, President Rosanne Somerson said:

“We are all deeply saddened by this news and our sincerest condolences extend to Mary’s family, friends, and loved ones.

“In moments like this we are reminded of the importance of community. As we endeavour to process our sadness and mourn Mary’s death, the important thing is that we support and honor one another with compassion, acceptance, and open hearts.

“Each and every individual at RISD is a valued and cherished part of the RISD family, and we can best honor Mary’s life by coming together and helping one another through this difficult time.”

There will be a vigil held tomorrow at 6pm at RISD beach.

RISD is a sister school of Brown.

The cause of death is not yet known.
