Alec Cook is to be released from jail

UW-Madison student charged with 21 counts of sexual assault to be released on bail.

Alec Cook, suspended UW-Madison student and sexual assault suspect, will be released on bail today.

On Wednesday, prosecutors charged Cook with six additional charges related to sexual assault. Bringing Cook’s total number of charges to 21.

The six additional charges are two felony stalking charges, three misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges, and one fourth-degree sexual assault charge.

Since the original victim came forward, nine other women have filed criminal complaints against Cook.

According to a UW-Madison WiscAlert, Cook’s bail was set at $100,000 by a Dane County Judge on Friday. Cook’s bail has been posted, and he is set to be released today.

As part of Cook’s conditions of bail he is banned from campus, and all of Dane County, except for attorney visits. Cook is also not allowed to use any social media.

Students are encouraged to call 911 if they see Cook on campus.
