UW-Madison Sigma Phi Epsilon has been terminated

Sig-Ep joins AEPi and Chi Phi as a terminated fraternity

Sigma Phi Epsilon (Sig-Ep) was terminated Tuesday by UW-Madison, because of unsafe practices and alcohol policy violations.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal, the fraternity has been under suspension since July when police busted a large party and discovered underage drinking.

The termination was voted on by UW-Madison’s Committee on Student Organizations. Their termination means they will no longer be considered a registered student org, and cannot hold campus events, including philanthropy events.

Sig-Ep will not be able to re-register as a student organization for the next five years.

Sig-Ep has the option to appeal the committee’s decision.

There are two other fraternities that have been kicked off campus, Alpha Epsilon Pi and Chi Phi.

In addition to being kicked off campus Sig Ep has also lost their 6 year lease for their house on 237 Langdon St., and a new fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, will be moving in next fall.
