Saturday sexual assault suspect arrested

Suspect arrested for sexual assault after a house party on Saturday.

Zachary Vannatta, 22, was arrested for alleged second-degree sexual assault by the Madison Police Department.

The alleged assault happened after a house party on the 1500 block of Jefferson Street Saturday afternoon.

The police were called by other partygoers, but Vannatta was not at the scene. He was located at his house and arrested, although charges have not yet been filed.

According to the MPD, the victim, a 19-year-old female, was intoxicated during the time of the incident.

Officer Joel DeSpain told the Daily Cardinal the suspect is a college student, but he does not attend UW-Madison.
