Your essential makeup guide for fall

Because it should change slightly with each season

The biggest misconception among beauty connoisseurs is thinking they need to replicate the exact look found in makeup ads and tutorial videos. This just isn’t true, nor is it feasible. Everyone has varying complexions, face shapes, eye colors, etc. What looks good in an ad may not be what’s best for your face.

The trick is to adopt similar application techniques used by the pros, but choose the colors that will  best flatter you. In addition, your makeup should change slightly with each season. As Fall approaches, consider warming up your beauty routine with a soft and romantic approach.

Don’t be afraid to let your brows grow

Skinny brows are a thing of the past. A full, rich look can be achieved by avoiding over-plucking. If your brows are a little unruly, you can wax them to create a desired shape, but do not thin them out with a tweezers. A quick fix to get all your little hairs in a row, is to run a toothbrush over them before filling in with a pencil or shadow.

Keep eye makeup simple

Who’s got time for elaborate eye makeup? Keep it simple with liner, mascara, and a neutral lid. Tans, browns, and pinks are perfect for transitioning seasons, as well as day to night. For day time I suggest a pencil liner in the water line of your lid and a touch of mascara. For night time try a winged liquid liner just above your lash line and dramatic lashes with a volumizing mascara.

Find the right lipstick shade

Find the lip that’s right for you. Dark reds are are the way to go, but there are so many to choose from. Pay attention to your natural lip color to decide which shade is best for you. If you have flesh colored or light pink lips go for a red that is more berry-toned. These shades with pink and brown undertones are subtle and sexy. Those of you with lips that are dark red or have purple hues can try out sultry burgundies and deep reds. For the colder months put away your balms and shines, and opt for a matte formula. Your lips will look as crisp as the air feels.

Skip the shimmer

Bronzers and highlighters are great for fun in the sun, but wearing any kind of makeup with glitter in it will not look natural on your skin as it starts to go pale. Instead, focus on obtaining a healthy glow this Fall with blush, nothing too vibrant though. Stay away from bright peaches and pinks, and move towards toasty mauves and browns to accent your cheek bones.

Like most fashion and beauty regimes, the best results come when you have fun and experiment with your look. Don’t be afraid to change up your routine, and try something new this Fall. A little variation might be just what you need to start the season right.
