Why high school seniors should choose Virginia Tech
Because we’re better than UVA, obviously
Why do students go to college? First and foremost, to gain an education. But that’s not the only reason students go to Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech students go to college to gain an experience that you can only have once. #YOLO
Virginia Tech is located in Blacksburg, Virginia. Tech is known for many things: number one dining, the happiest students on campus, and the fittest students on campus. There are countless items on the list of why the high school senior should choose Tech. But here are the (basic) compilation of reasons why anyone should be a Hokie.
The school spirit
I have been to many sporting events at other colleges as well as sporting events hosted by Virginia Tech. Through my experience, and going to games as a student at Tech, Virginia Tech fans are some of the most dedicated, exciting, cheerful fans that any college cannot beat. Whether it is football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, or any sport, fans are always there, cheering the Hokies on to victory. Even walking around campus, you can find students decked out in Hokie gear (maroon and orange). Maroon and orange runs through the streets. We are Virginia Tech in spirit.
The community
Together, Hokies are strong together. Whether it’s holding the door for one another on the way to class, buying food for each other if one of us forgot our Hokie Passport, or simply giving out hugs on the Drill Field on Hokie Ambassador Love Day. We are a family; we are all Hokies. There is a reason why we are the happiest campus in the country!
The food
Virginia Tech is forever number one dining in the country. Here, you have the choice of ordering either lobster or steak at the famous West End Market, or you can get the Hokie special, chicken parmesan on Wednesdays and Fridays. Either choice you make equals a Happy Hokie.
Football
Here at Virginia Tech we pride ourselves on our football team. Coach Frank Beamer is not just a name, but a legend. When it comes time for football season, we pack Lane Stadium and jump to the Metallica song we as Hokies have come to love. Football is embedded in our love for Virginia Tech.
Academics
Football and spirit are just reasons to come to Tech. We also pride ourselves in being one of the top research universities in the country. Professors treat each student as an individual and make sure everyone is comfortable with the material. Students at Virginia Tech not only learn in class but also learn to apply what they know outside of class and in the “real world.” With our impressive average GPA of 3.8-4.2, Virginia Tech strives to “invent the future.”

I am forever happy with my decision to attend Virginia Tech, the greatest school in the world. I am forever a part of the Hokie family. I am ecstatic and grateful to have even more Hokies join my family. I hope you make the right choice.
