James Franco is coming to UVA

What a time to be a Wahoo

Today while I was scrolling through Instagram, I had a heart-attack upon finding out that James Franco was coming to UVA. I’ve never been more excited to be a Wahoo.

Franco attended UCLA to study English but dropped out after one year to pursue acting. He kick-started his career as one of the main characters in a late 90’s show ‘Freaks and Geeks’ (of which I’m still bitter that there is only one season), and later became fan-magazine famous for his main role in ‘James Dean’ (2001). He’s now a man of many talents: writing, producing, directing, acting, looking good…

He is coming all the way to C-Ville to discuss the diverse career in the Arts during the third annual President’s Speaker Series for the Arts, a stage to promote the value and meaning of the Arts in universities, communities, and the nation.

Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey was the speaker in 2014, and Tina Fey (our favorite alum) was the inaugural speaker. This series is an important one considering the national decline of the Arts – it is important to recognize the pertinence of creativity and artistry on humanity as a whole.

The event is free to students, and tickets will be available in person starting Tuesday, March 15 at the UVA Arts Box Office, the JPJ Arena Box Office, and the ID Card Office at Observatory Hill Dining Hall. Starting Wednesday, tickets will be available online via the JPJ page on ticketmaster.com.
