Cavaliers ranked as no. 5 team in preseason lineup

Still better than Duke

November 13th isn’t really that far away but for all basketball lovin’ Hoos, it is still not close enough.

With the loss of Justin Anderson to the pros (Go Dallas Mavericks!), many UVA fans have worried about the fate of our team.

Despite the loss, Cav’s fans need not fear – we can already rub our superiority in the face of our biggest rival: Duke.

That’s right – CBS Sports has rank UVA 5th in the Preseason Top 25, while Duke comes in at a measly 7th.

Gary Prish writes, ” [UVA] still [has] a chance to win a third straight ACC title thanks to the presence of Malcolm Brogdon, Anthony Gill, Mike Tobey, London Perrantes and one of the nation’s best defensive coaches in Tony Bennet.”

Among being ranked in the top five, two Cavalier men have made CBS’ list of the Top 101 players.

Senior guard Malcolm Brogdon comes in at number nine for being able to “utilize his strength and physicality better than any other guard in America.”

The closest Blue Devil to Brogdon is Brandon Ingram at rank seventeen.

Brogdon has also been named a player to watch for the

Jerry West Award, which goes to the nation’s best shooting guard.

Anthony Gill sits at 29, a “smart positional defender, and efficient scorer.”

The season is not even under way yet, but it’s clear that our Cavaliers will bury the Blue Devils.
