Hurricane Joaquin to hit Virginia this weekend

And it’s making our windows leak

For forty days and forty nights, UVA has faced the rain and the growing popularity of the sailing and crew teams.

One week of torrential downpour just wasn’t quite enough it seems. News stations from Fox to Oprah warn the East Coast of Hurricane Joaquin.

A force so fierce that its name cannot be spoken, for no one knows how to pronounce it.

A victim of the rain

Not only has Joaquin confounded people with its name, but it is forcing some people to rethink some vital logistics about their fall break.

“Well I was going to go to the beach for the weekend, but I’m not exactly trying to drown,” Katie Vanderkoi tells the Tab.

“I’m mostly just mad about the fact that my window leaks and my landlord sucks. I already dealt with one river through my bedroom, not exactly excited for another.”

Hopefully the sun will return soon and we will be able to walk, not swim, to classes once again.

Thomas Jefferson hopes you stay dry.
