He has killer looks and style
As the overwhelming number of black leggings, oversized t-shirts, and burnt orange sweatshirts consume every square inch of UT’s campus, it is undeniably refreshing to find a student with distinct style and impeccable taste.
No freshman embodies these qualities better than 18-year-old Jarvis Dillard from Houston, Texas.
We interviewed stylish Jarvis about his incredible look.
Describe your style in three words.
Out there. Life because I give life to so many people. And me.
Who are your style inspirations?
Hmm, I mean I don’t really have any style inspirations, I just like whatever I think looks good. Can I say myself?
What’s your favorite outfit that you’ve ever worn?
My prom suit is one of my favorites because it was really outside of the box. I wanted to do something different than what everybody else was doing which was just the plain old suits. So I ended up going to an Indian store in Houston and realized that I wanted to be an Indian prince. My outfit ended up having jewels, sparkles, and I even wore a crown, which they made me take off since it took away from the Prom King. Yeah, that was my favorite, it was just so me and out there. I actually wore it again last semester for a pageant that I won.
Go-to outfit?
My outfit today! Some cute joggers, any color shoe, a shirt that matches the shoes, and I like to wear a nice jacket. There is a maximum of three colors in my outfit. I have rules. My go-to colors are white, I love white, black of course, and dark blues. Blue is my favorite color and so I’m always down for it.
Favorite places to shop?
Forever 21 is number one on my list, I absolutely have to go to Forever. I think every time I step in there I buy something. I love Cotton On. Pac Sun because they have some of the best jeans you can find. And I love the Gap.
A trend you love?
Black jackets with quilted detailing.
A trend you hate?
People that don’t try or care about what they wear. People that just throw stuff on. Oh, and wedges, I hate wedges. They’re just too springtime for my taste.
Favorite designers?
Chanel, GROOM, and Balmain.
Last thing you bought?
All White Nike Roshes.
How would you describe the style at UT?
Very laid back, workout gear. Everybody looks like they are ready for a workout. T-shirts and baseball caps. But I love dressy days because I look forward to seeing what types of clothes the girls will wear and the guys with style actually dress up.
Have you considered a career in fashion?
Yes I have, that would be amazing. I love dresses and so I would love to design wedding dresses or just dresses in general for celebrities. I like to draw dresses now and then. I am a ballgown person. I am a sucker for mermaid style dresses. I love trains. I want a train on my wedding suit.
