It’s a Leap Day so all of these places are doing deals

These specials are the most important thing you’ll read about all day

2016 is a special year for many reasons: it’s a presidential election year, a Summer Olympics year, and the year in which Pixar’s “Finding Dory” will finally be released.

But perhaps most exciting of all is that 2016 is a Leap Year, meaning we not only get to enjoy 24 extra hours under the sun (this is LA, after all), but we also get to enjoy LEAP DAY SPECIALS.

I’ve been looking forward to this for the past 28 days

If you’re one of the lucky few to have been born on Leap Day, definitely don’t miss out on the opportunity to get lots of free/reduced price food, because the rest of us “common folk” will hate you for it.

The Hard Rock Cafe, for example, is giving those with a Leap Day-confirming ID a free entrée from a special “leapling” menu (that’s right: not an appetizer, an entrée) so please go experience this magic and let me live vicariously through you.

Another deal I’m insanely jealous of?

Pizza Hut is giving out free, one-topping personal pan pizzas to carry-out customers, and if you can’t get behind free pizza there’s something wrong with you (it’s okay if you think Pizza Hut is gross, you can totally just pick it up and give it to me to eat: I like plain cheese, so for the topping just choose extra cheese).

When your birthday isn’t on Leap Day

Not born on Leap Day? Don’t fret, you aren’t completely SOL, as several popular eateries around LA are also offering deals to us common folk who were unlucky enough to be born on the wrong day (although we also get to celebrate our birthdays every year, so who’s the real winner here?).

Asada tacos at Tacos Tu Madre in Westwood are being offered for just 29 cents per taco, which is a deal I think we can all get behind.

If venturing over near UCLA is just completely out of the question, either because you don’t have a car or just on principal, guess what?

Dog Haus chains nationwide will upgrade your single to a double patty burger for free. So if you’re bored of EVK, don’t feel like cooking, or just are really in the mood for a hamburger, walk the five minutes it’ll take to get to our very own Figueroa Dog Haus location and get more burger than is probably healthy to eat in a week, let alone in one sitting.

Want dessert instead of/in addition to a regular meal? Krispy Kreme is offering a dozen glazed doughnuts for just $2.29 with any purchase of a dozen other doughnuts at regular price.  The closest location to USC is on Crenshaw Blvd, just 15 minutes away (don’t hold me to this time though: depending on traffic this could be very different).

You can even drive there because there’s parking but it’ll probably take longer

So there you go: this is by no means a comprehensive list of all the deals offered, only the most college budget-friendly (seriously, every day should be Leap Day for those with a valid college student ID). Therefore you have no excuse: literally anyone can enjoy discounted food tomorrow, no matter when your birthday is.

Side note: if anyone has a hook-up for fake IDs on which one can say that their birthday is on February 29, let me know (asking for a friend).
