Coalition to End Rape Culture to hold rally tomorrow

Come support CERC and advocate for #SurvivorsRightsNow

What do UMass students do when survivors’ rights are under attack?

We speak out! We fight back!

The time to demand a Survivors’ Bill of Rights is now. For nine months CERC has been pushing UMass administration to institute our Survivors’ Bill of Rights to institute necessary and vital rights for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.

Join us tomorrow, 12:15-1:15pm in front of the Union to advocate and fight for #SurvivorsRightsNow.

CERC’s ‘Carry That Weight’ rally, Spring 2015

CERC has already won five key pieces to the Survivors’ Bill of Rights:

1. A Title IX site, where students can find information about their rights guaranteed under Title IX
2. Optional evaluations for survivors who report and/or go through the conduct process
3. Creation of an annual campus climate survey on sexual and gender-based violence
4. 98-100 percent tuition reimbursement for survivors who choose to withdraw from classes or for semester(s)
5. Academic accommodations for survivors regardless of whether they choose to report or not

But the fight is far from over. There are over 25 more demands CERC has for the UMass administration to guarantee survivors are protected and supported on our campus.

Tomorrow, 12/4, CERC will be having a Rally and Direct Action to demand UMass administration stand with survivors and pass the bill of rights now.

To quote a beloved CERC alumni, Chelsie Field, “We will continue to fight for and demand #SurvivorsRightsNow in a rape culture that constantly says survivors do not need or deserve them.”
