Everything you absolutely must do in your first year at UD

Are you really a Blue Hen if you don’t?

These are all the things freshmen should definitely do to get the full UD experience!

Go to the UDairy Creamery

It’s not enough to just eat the ice cream in the dining hall, you have to head to the UDairy Creamery. There’s a wider selection of flavors, the prices are reasonable, they give you a taste, the workers are extremely friendly, and by the time you leave you’ll have a favorite.

Find a RSO you love

Whatever you like doing, I’m sure there’s a club for it. Say you always wanted to try crotchet – why not try now? You’ll make a ton of new friends, all while enjoying yourself.

Try all of the different restaurants on Main Street

There’s everything from Mexican cuisines to freshly baked donuts to pizza and delicious gelato. Don’t be afraid to try some new foods – you may just surprise yourself.

Start planning how to tackle the UD Bucket List

This is actually a cool little tool to acknowledge. It’ll hold you and your friends accountable for taking a breather sometimes to have fun.

Visit all of the different place in your Student Centers

Get to know all they have to offer, like the game room in Perkins and theater in Trabant. The student centers plan a lot of fun events, so expect entertainment, crafts, photo booths and free foods.

Take a first year experience class

At first the class will seem like a hassle, but if they advise you to do activities, do them. At the time, you may hate some of it, but you’ll appreciate it later.

Get involved with on-campus events

If the event sounds interesting, then it most likely will be. You’ll probably enjoyed every event that you go to, but if you became bored, just get up and leave.

Go cheer on some of our incredible UD teams

Football, basketball, wrestling, swim… and the list goes on. The players really appreciate it when their peers support them and the games are amusing in the company of a good friend and a good snack.

Take risks and find your interest

I learned that I was a stronger leader than I thought, and you don’t have to be an upperclassman to make big moves.
