SNAP is the best thing to hit Main Street in years

Plus, free wine every Wednesday after 5pm

Yes, we have Chipotle. Granted, we also have six other Mexican cuisines on Main Street. But a really great pizza and salad place? Not until SNAP came along – trust me, I’m from New York.

Sure, we’ll always have Margaritas, which is good when you’re drunk at midnight with the munchies, but SNAP is on another level.

If you’ve never been, it’s located where Peace of Pizza used to be (which was trash, in my opinion).

As soon as you walk in, you will greeted by warm, natural light and friendly smiles. You’ll walk past the chipotle-style topping and sauce display and know in your heart that this is what Main Street’s been lacking for so long – that you finally feel at home.

The possibilities for a custom pizza are endless. They have so many sauces, from the classic San Marzano Tomato to a rich, tangy BBQ sauce. I always select their House Made Mozzarella for my cheese, but I hear the Goat Cheese is very popular.

Next, you’ll choose your protein, and what’s a fully balanced meal without that? Pepperoni, veal meatballs, bacon, chicken, you name it. Now, I’m not big on vegetables on my pizza, besides tomatoes, but you can get a full-blown salad on that bad boy.

Finally, the “Finishing Touches.” Truffle oil. Roasted garlic oil. Cilantro lime crema. If the sound of those toppings doesn’t make you drool, I don’t trust you and you might be a cyborg. Not to mention their salads! I’ve gotten the So Cal for three weeks straight, but they also have Thai and Greek-inspired salads, and one where you can get a full hard-boiled egg in it (not my thing, but that’s trendy). They also have “Grain Bowls” with plenty of healthy vegetables and quinoa.

The prices are pretty reasonable considering the speed at which their made (super quick), the quality (amazing), and quantity (perfect): $7.99 for a Signature Pizza and $8.99 for a Custom. Their salads are slightly less.

You also get a free cup of water with every purchase and…drum roll, please…A FREE GLASS OF WINE EVERY WEDNESDAY AFTER 5! That is unheard of.

All in all, SNAP is a home-run. Long have been the days when my fellow New Yorkers and Jersey kids have yearned for some good and affordable pizza, because let’s be honest, Delaware isn’t famous for their pizza. But with SNAP on Main Street, perhaps Newark will become the new New York.
