If places to eat on Main Street were your friends

Panera is definitely the the sorority friend

Main Street is certainly a big part of UD’s campus, from its endless variety in food, to nightlife, to bookstores for textbooks and more. There’s something for everyone, especially if you’re sick of the dining hall (to be honest it gets old fast), or just don’t feel like cooking.

Grottos: the disorganized or messy friend

There’s always that one friend that’s not quite tidy enough. Right on the corner of the green – the first thing you see on Main Street by the Little Bob gym – Grotto’s is absolutely packed with over 21s on the weekends. The line to get in is always long, yet without fail there are always people waiting. Whether you’re drinking and trying to win a small plastic duck, stuffing your face with pizza, or cheering on your favorite football team at the bar, it’s a messy, fun place to be.

Chipotle: the popular friend

We all have that one friend that everyone loves or that has a connection to everything. Chipotle is without a doubt a favorite – because hey, who doesn’t want a nice burrito bowl with extra guacamole, or a large burrito that you probably can’t finish in one sitting. If only it was open late so it were available more often.

Panera: the sorority friend

Because I am in a sorority, I know just how many of us sisters are obsessed with Panera and love going on ‘girl dates’ there. My sorority family and others have even done big little reveal here, after ordering a delicious sandwiches, soup, and bread – of course.

Honey Grow: the healthy friend

A new edition to Newark, Honey Grow’s amazing create-your-own stir fry and salads are a favorite for those with vegan or gluten free diets. Every stir fry option is customizable, whether you want rice noodles, pork, lettuce, vegetables, or so much more. Writing abut this place is making me hungry because it’s just that good.

Home Grown: the hipster friend

Not to be confused with Honey Grow, like one of my good friends did once, Home Grown entails casual dining with a hip twist. The local flavor is a huge hit for it’s endless options – from its delicious french toast at brunch to its ‘crabby fries’ at dinner.

Jimmy John’s: the night owl

This is probably everyone’s favorite late night food on the weekend or during the week. Get your own awesome 8 inch sub sandwich in town or online, so they will deliver it right to your door. And if you’re really hungry and want more carbs, you can even ask for the ‘day old bread’ and they’ll happily give it to you.

Duck Donuts: the sweet friend

As another recent addition to Main Street, Duck Donuts satisfies anybody’s sweet tooth with their homemade donuts and countless options. You start with a coating, add a topping, and then finish by adding a drizzle such as hot fudge or salted caramel. You can add anything from chocolate icing, to cinnamon sugar, to even bacon pieces.

Buffolo Wild Wings: the sporty friend

Though technically on South Main Street, or Elkton Road, B-Dubs is a hit for those who enjoy some tasty wings while watching sports. Order at the sports bar or get take out anything from the sweet honey barbecue wings to share-ables such as soft pretzels with queso.
