Who needs a boyfriend when you have your friends

Galentine’s Day > Valentine’s Day by a mile

This past Valentine’s was a day you could either celebrate in a relationship with your significant other, or cherish the friendships you have with your girls (and that doesn’t mean boobs)!

The holiday we know as Galentine’s was a huge hit this year, and just in case you want to continue to celebrate your girlfriends or friends, here are some things to do around Storrs or at home with your bestie(s):

Dunkin Date, anyone?

What better way to spend your time with friends, than to sweeten it up a bit? The best way to do so is to indulge in a lovely Dunkin Donuts date. Warm up your hearts with a chocolatey drink, or a caffeinated beverage topped off with heart shaped donuts. Chatting over a nice spot of coffee with your girls is an ideal way to have great gossip sessions with your friends to bring you closer!

A lovely meander on Horsebarn Hill

Who needs a romantic stroll with your partner when you can walk it out with your gals? And the perfect place to do so is Horsebarn Hill. It’s an ideal spot for some adventuring and exploring the wonderful sights Horsebarn Hill has to offer. Who needs a SO to spend time with when you can live your day away chilling with some cows and your friends?

Hanging out in the Game Room

A tiny gem of UConn is our Game Room. It has tons of games to choose from and plenty of consoles to play with. If you and your friends are feeling competitive, try some bowling for the night, play some pool, or just kick it old school with some arcade games we all used to play when we couldn’t be adults yet. If you want some friendly competition, bring it to the Game Room, right in the Union!

Animal Videos…duh!

There is nothing wrong with searching for animal videos on YouTube with your bestie. Nothing beats gushing over the top cutest cats, or the fluffiest bunnies in the entire world! Staring at the adorableness of baby animals with your chicas while eating chocolate is the ultimate way to relax and spend time with your squad.

Netflix Binge with your Bae Friends

The most fun you could probably have with your friends is crying over Grey’s or reminiscing about Friends with your #wcw. If you need some quality time with your bestie, binge-watch a new series together and hold each other when you realize it was the best bonding experience to adore your favorite actors or actresses together.

Enjoy a Girls Night Out

What better way to have fun with your best friend and your favorite drink, than to have a girls night out! Get yourself over to the bar (if you’re old enough, duh) and order some rounds for your favorite ladies! Even though you may wake up with a hangover the next day and an aching body, it was totally worth all of the wall twerking you and your friends did at the bar.

Do something NEW with your gal pal

Exploring new fun things to do with your girls is better than sitting around and doing the same thing every time you hang out. Sometimes what we need to do together is suck at something, or be awesome at something, in order to really feel close to our friends.

Who’s ready for a makeover!?

When in doubt, MAKEOVER! Playing with makeup (Snapchat filters) is the best way to get creative with your girls and to spice up your style. Anything from clothes, to hair, to makeup, to an entire face makeover, this is the perfect way to bond with the friends you love.

FaceTime Me!

You know your friend that lives a state away who you don’t see very often? FaceTime them! Catch up and talk about all of things your roommate does that you hate, or tell her about that one person you were interested in and what they said to you last night and tell her about how it wasn’t fair… having three hour FaceTime sessions with your bestie can help spark an old flame of friendship and get you two back in the swing of things! (Or you could just spend forever making weird faces to one another, that’s a good idea as well.)

Most important of all: Get a little check-up to make sure everything is A-Okay

As much as we all love romance and relationships and… well, the activities which come along with it, the most important thing is safety first! What better way to spend this day of love, then to get checked out to make sure everything is pretty and STD-free! So make a date with your lady-friends and check out UConn’s Rainbow Center, which hosts FREE STD testing once a month!
