Mismanagement of ASUCD funds leads to trouble
Picnic Day is to become a for-profit event starting in 2017 with the 103rd annual Picnic Day in Davis.
Grace Scott, Chair on the Board of Directors, reached out to The Tab to confirm details of the news.
The nitty gritty is that the ASUCD is no longer able to manage their budget efficiently, meaning Picnic Day will now be sponsored by corporations.
Student fees going towards ASUCD have traditionally been used to pay for Picnic Day, but due to the mismanagement of the budget, ASUCD will not be providing Picnic Day with any financial support from student fees.
This is part of a wider problem of budget management within ASUCD leading to termination of many student positions as well as budget cuts.
