Why you should commit to Tulane University

There’s nowhere better

With the May 1st deadline rapidly approaching for high school seniors, deciding where to go to college is without a doubt on everyone’s mind. Questions ranging from “Do I want a party school?” to “How do I even possibly know what I want to major in?” are most likely swarming through the minds of high school seniors.

Attention seniors: I have found the key to all of your answers, and it’s lying right here in this very article. Have no doubt – I’m here to convince you why Tulane University is, no ifs ands or buts about it, the only school you should even be considering.

Bars, drinking, and open container laws

So, before we even get down to the academic part, I figured I should start by mentioning the topic that is probably on most of your minds – the social aspect. Tulane is known for having one of the happiest student bodies, and that is partly due to the fact that it is absolutely, ridiculously, almost stupidly easy to get into any bar off campus that you’d like.

Just five steps from Tulane, “The Boot” is known for being the best college bar in America – and the best part is that you only have to be 18 years old to enter! Not only that, but all throughout New Orleans, you are allowed to walk around with an open container without any questions.

Think about it – walking out of a bar with your drink, walking up and down Broadway street with your friends, going in and out of The Boot and The Palms and frats all night…Tulane students literally live the dream on an average Tuesday night.

At those bars, you can find students there on literally any day of the week. Tulane makes it almost impossible to not go out on a Wednesday at 4:00 for happy hour, or on a regular Thursday night to F&Ms Patio Bar. Once you see how easy it is to enter bars and to drink in the streets all night, Tulane becomes the obvious choice.

Need I say more? Without giving too much away, I can absolutely guarantee that it will be the craziest week of your entire life.

Make sure you drink a tequila sunrise outside of The Boot on Monday morning at 6:30 am – the entire student body will be there with you for the craziest night of the year.

The weather

I am not exaggerating when I say that Tulane experienced about a weeklong winter, no more and no less. Needless to say, I sent my winter coat home a LONG time ago and wear shorts to class all of the time. Warm weather makes going out, walking to class, and tanning with your friends on the LBC Quad everyday that much more enjoyable.

From darties at the Lower Line on Saturdays to Friday afternoons spent at The Fly, the weather never fails to make Tulane students tan, happy, and outside enjoying the weather all of the time.

Academics

Without going into too much detail, I think I can speak for almost everyone here at Tulane when I say that the academics are perfectly challenging and practical at the same time. Tulane is a very work-hard, play-hard atmosphere, and on any night of the week you’ll find just as many students studying in the Howie T. Memorial Library as you’ll see out on the streets of The Boot.

At Tulane, I feel like I have the most resources I could possibly need, and I can honestly say that I love learning here and feel motivated by the people and faculty around me.

There are so many more aspects to Tulane that I could talk on and on about, but I will close by saying this- when people come to visit from other colleges, they always tell us how lucky we are that we go here, and how different this place is from anywhere else.

As a Tulanian, I know how fortunate I am to be here. It’s only a matter of time before you make your own college decision, and I highly advise you to consider Tulane as your choice for the best college experience you could ever ask for – I can guarantee that you will not regret it!
