This Temple alumnus is about to win $1 million from competing in the World Series of Poker

Blumstein could win as much as $8,150,000 in the final round

Temple alumnus, Scott Blumstein of Morristown, New Jersey, is currently leading the 2017 World Series of Poker main event final table. Tomorrow night, he will be competing against eight others for a $8,150,000 first place prize.

Regardless of the outcome, all nine finalists, Blumstein included, are guaranteed to win at least $1,000,000 a piece. Not too bad for a recent 2014 graduate of the Fox School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

From a starting group of 7,221, Blumstein has fought his way to the end as he takes his seat at the final table on Thursday, July 20th. This is no small feat, especially considering this is Blumstein’s first World Series Of Poker appearance and that he’s been competing against veterans.

Scott Blumstein has expressed his gratitude saying, “I have no words. The support from everyone means the world to me.”

Leading the finalists with a total of 97,250,000 chips to bring to the table, Blumstein can’t believe the reality of this moment, he tells pokernews.com.

Despite his overwhelming success thus far, Blumstein remains humble, and is capable of realizing the important things in life. Before competing last Sunday, Blumstein joked on his twitter account, “If I punt off today, it’s only because I don’t want to miss Thrones.”

The nine remaining finalists will compete on Thursday in Las Vegas. Of those nine, the top six will continue on to Friday, and the final three players will finish the tournament on Saturday.
