Police search for Cleveland ‘Facebook killer’ less than two miles from Temple University

People reported a man who matched his description near Fairmount earlier this afternoon

According to Philly Magazine, a call went out around 12:30pm from Philadelphia’s police radio on the status of alleged Cleveland killer, Steve Stephens. Apparently he was reported seen in Philadelphia near Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park.

Nine schools in the area were put on lockdown at 1:30pm.

After 2:00pm, information was sent into police that Stephens was driving around West Philadelphia in a newer model black Ford Taurus.

However, police said that “no indication that that subject is in the (Belmont) Plateau area” and the lockdown was lifted before 3pm.

Officials are searching for Stephens after he shot Robert Goodwin, former foundry-worker, 74, in Cleveland, Ohio, and posted the incident to Facebook live. The shooting was random and police rushed to the scene but Facebook said the video wasn’t a live broadcast. The video had been up for three hours before being taken down, along with Stephens’ profile.

Philadelphia Police released a statement that as of now no further information is known but any updates will be posted immediately.
