Honeygrow’s Temple tasting preview party was a success

It is now officially open for business

One week ago, Temple’s new Honeygrow opened its doors to students for a tasting preview party before it officially opened for business on Monday, September 19th.

Justin Rosenberg, an alumnus of Fox School of Business, opened the first Honeygrow in Philadelphia in 2012. As a Temple grad, it was only natural he bring the company back to his starting ground.

Students crowded around the restaurant all day Thursday between 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for free lunches and dinners.

They had the option to order anything off of the menu – so really they could’ve ordered everything! If students didn’t have the chance to RSVP for the event, they were most likely stuck sitting in class watching Snapchat stories of delicious stir-fries, salads and frozen yogurt.

If you’ve never been to Honeygrow before, Here’s how it works. You have the option to choose between a stir-fry or salad, with dozens toppings and ingredients to add into each entree. You can pick a Honeygrow recipe or you can choose to create your own. Both meals are made with fresh seasonal and local ingredients. The company prides themselves in using nearby farmers to ensure great quality, and employees prepare everything fresh daily.

For dessert, you can make your own snack from the seasonal Honeybar, which offers a selection of fresh fruit, local honey and toppings.

For Temple students, this menu may sound quite familiar to Crisp Kitchen’s, the restaurant that opened up in the bottom of The View last year. Only time will tell if both businesses are able to survive offering almost identical menus.

But after a day like Thursday, with students lining up out the door, employees walking around with smiles on their faces, and a range of great tasting fresh food options, this well-known Philadelphia business is bound to find success here at Temple University.
