TU ALERT: Ted Bundy was here

And so was Toby Flenderson.

Temple has given us the worst three people to taint Philly’s name in the last century: Bill Cosby, Toby Flenderson and Ted Bundy.

At least we have father-figure turned savage Danny Tanner to uphold what little dignity we have left.

But, I digress, this isn’t a light-hearted article about Papa Tanner. This is some serious shit. Here’s what we know:

Ted Bundy attended Temple University for one semester in January 1969, six years after Bill Cosby dropped out. After which, he spent time with family in Philadelphia before returning to Washington in the Fall. According to Larry Lewis, it is during this period that two young women were murdered, and though the case has been left cold for decades, it is widely assumed that Ted Bundy killed both women Memorial Day Weekend 1969. Most theories conclude that Bundy probably lured the women by faking an injury.

A student at Philadelphia University relays the story her great aunt told her, just weeks before Bundy was the nation’s Most Wanted:

“One day after work, she was sitting in her car and an injured man with a sling tapped on her window, asking her if she can help him with something. She was really creeped out so she just told him no and then a few weeks later he was all over the news. It was Ted Bundy.”

We don’t know a lot about Bundy’s time at Temple, but we can bet that the university has done its work to keep that part of Owl history under wraps. So, maybe we get a weekly text from 246-39 detailing an “armed robbery” amongst our homes. We can handle it. We dodged a fucking serial killer.
