Residents of 1940 left in the cold after burst pipe

No one was allowed back in for eight hours

A fire alarm went off at 9:15am yesterday morning in Temple dorm 1940.

Students evacuated the building and were not allowed back in until around 6pm.

The residents of 1940 had five minutes each throughout the afternoon to run in and grab necessities.

According to Temple officials, a water pipe burst in the dorm due to the cold weather.

Students were told to wait in Tomlinson Theater until 1:30pm until they were moved to the atrium of Annenberg.

Residents of 1300 also heard fire alarms throughout the day but were not affected by the flood.
