Uber won’t be dropping its prices in Philly

Hoverboards banned and now this?

The post-holiday slump has kicked in and Uber is doing something, just not for their Philadelphia users.

Early this month Uber announced price cuts for 100 major cities in the United States and Canada. One city that is left out of this price cut (aka a gift from the gods) is Philadelphia.

Now who wants to be paying the normal 2am surge on a cold Saturday night? Not us.

Uber has stats that aid their decision on cities that need the price drop. Obviously some cities need more of a push for people to leave their warm beds and cheap bottles of wine. It’s a little incentive to get people up and out during the colder months.

“While pricing is a science, every city is different: different economic circumstances; different regulations; different competition,” Uber said on it’s site.

This science is leaving Philadelphians out of a price cut and may end up hurting the numbers for Uber drivers this year too. If less people go out then less drivers will be making stops.

So if money is tight from the holidays and your diet doesn’t include guzzling down shots of tequila at the bars this winter it might be a good time to buckle down and stay in. Netflix and a comfy bed might be the better choice.
