Gymnastics team left all chalked up after gym vandalized

Where was the TUalert?

Over the weekend, a Pearson-McGonigle gym used by the Temple Gymnastics team was vandalized.

Officials and team members are unsure of which day the incident actually occurred.

The damage included smashed mirrors, mats thrown around, gymnasts’ chalk spilled everywhere, and an unknown liquid poured on the floor exercise carpet.

Temple gymnasts have been left in the dark as no one really knows what happened.

“I don’t know whole lot of what the police have said. I don’t think we have been told a lot of anything. It didn’t affect us a whole lot actually.” said Patrick Henley, a Junior Advertising major.

The team was in shock about the incident but also with the fact they were the ones having to clean up the mess.

“That was the most annoying part. We couldn’t have our first whole practice back in the gym after the remodel because almost the entire practice was cleaning up – not something we were too excited about seeing as our first competition is this weekend.”
