Meet Temple’s PJ girl

Most likely to be voted best dressed at Temple party near you

For most Temple students, going out to a party means hours of planning with friends, choosing the perfect outfit when getting ready and then going out with a group.

One Temple student, an unnamed sophomore Biochemistry major has changed the Temple party attire game. Instead of raiding her closet for the perfect jeans-and-crop-top combo she has an entirely different decision to make: which set of pajamas should she wear?

Now, this wasn’t just a one time thing. @TemplePJgirl has an up-and-coming online presence with over 200 followers on Twitter. Many people have begun mentioning her in tweets and snapping pictures when they see her out and about at Temple parties.

The Tab sat down with Temple PJ Girl to learn more about Temple’s most comfy party goer and how she decided to start this new persona.

How did the Temple Pj Girl idea happen?

One night all of my roommates went out to a party and I just wanted to stay home and chill so I put on my pajamas. My other roommate, who was staying home with me, wanted to go to 7-Eleven and I told her I would walk with her. She didn’t want me to go out in my pajamas, but it was late and I didn’t want to change so I said that I would just go like that. We passed the party on my street that all my roommates were at and I jokingly said we should go. My roommate kinda dared me to go in so I did.

How did people react to you being in pajamas?

I went into the party and people loved it – they thought it was funny and wanted to take pictures with me. As I left the party people started yelling “Temple PJ Girl,” so I thought it would be cool if I made it into a Twitter to go along with that.

Were you surprised by people’s initial reaction to you at that party?

I didn’t think people would react so well to it. At first, the people at the door who were hosting the party asked why I was dressed like that but the other people at the party thought it was hilarious.

How many pairs of PJs do you own?

My collection has definitely grown since I told my family about it and they keep sending me pjs -it’s kinda funny. I have about 10 to 15 pairs total: three onesies, a lot of different pants and a couple of pant suits.

Do you ever borrow pajamas to wear out?

All of the pajamas that I have worn out are mine, but my roommates have a lot of fun pajamas that I could borrow if I wanted.

I saw that someone tweeted about you wearing pajamas to the Zedd concert, how did that happen?

Yes, I wore them to Zedd. My roommates were all dressing up funny, you know, you dress up weird for concerts so I suggested wearing my pajamas and they wanted me to do it and I did.

Have you worn pajamas to any other places besides parties and concerts?

I wear them walking around the streets at night and I’ve worn them to 7-Eleven too. I’ll be wearing them at the Temple-Notre Dame tailgate too so look out for that!

What is your favorite pair of pajamas?

My favorite are my Wonder Woman pajamas, it’s a onesie . It looks like Wonder Woman’s costume and it has a little cape attached to it.

Do you wear makeup out to parties or do you just get up and go?

I usually don’t wear makeup or get ready. I pretty much walk straight out of the house because I never really know if I want to go or not until the last minute.

Has anyone else worn the pajamas with you?

No one has, but they should!

@TemplePartyowl tweeted at you – how did they find you?

I’m not really sure how they found out about me but they private messaged me and said that they appreciated my work (laughs).

Have you ever run into Temple students or locals who want to talk to you on the street?

When I do wear pajamas out in the streets, I get a lot of shouts from Temple students – it’s always encouragement or something like “Oh that girl is awesome she’s in her pajamas.” The locals will, you know, yell or whistle or whatever.

Do you ever see people taking Snapchats of you at parties?

I see snapchats – there are a lot of those usually.

Describe your typical night out.

My roommates usually start getting ready around 8pm and they always ask me if I’m going and I usually say that I don’t know because I usually have a lot of homework.  I usually have my pajamas on by this point because it’s late, and then I do my homework. My roommates tell me when they’re going out and they ask me if I want to come and I usually will decide to go and just wear my pajamas.

Is there anything else you want people to know about what you’re doing?

Like my Twitter bio says: you don’t need to dress up to have a good time! Just do your own thing.
