Why is Shaw the most underrated dorm at ‘Cuse?

It has sushi AND private bathrooms

Although most of Shaw is part of the engineering learning community, these students make up less than 15 percent of the student population at Syracuse. For the most part, us engineers tend to socialize with those in our college because of our close living situations, similar classes, and common interests. Shaw is dominated by engineering students and, as a result, Shaw’s awesomeness rarely becomes known to non-engineering students.

But, plot-twist — it's Syracuse's hidden gem.

Bigger isn't always better

While Watson and Ernie Davis tend to be the most coveted dorms because of their nice rooms and okay, even air-conditioning in Ernie, Shaw has what they don't —delicious food, renovated rooms and a prime location. And let me emphasize PRIVATE BATHROOMS. Shaw has it all. What’s not to love about it?

Despite these magnificent features, Shaw is often overlooked as not only a great residence hall, but an ace dining hall as well. Ernie Davis, Sadler and Schine are okay and all, but Shaw is consistent with the quality and selection of food. One day you might get sushi, and chicken tenders the next. The possibilities are endless!

And while some may prefer the big, “wait where are my friends sitting?” dining halls, Shaw is that happy medium between big and small. It’s not too big that you can’t even find your friends in a crowded, usually hangry crowd of college students, but not too small that you feel like you’re eating with strangers.

Study hard, But party harder

A great variety of food is always an upside of going to Shaw, but let’s talk location. Shaw is located a short five minute walk from the Quad and right next to Frat Row. Frat Row equals parties, and parties equal a lit time.

There’s a reason why Syracuse is ranked number four party school in the nation.

Sit on your porcelain throne all morning in privacy

One of the best parts of Shaw are the private bathrooms. You can go about your daily morning and nighttime rituals in peace. Plus, you don't have to worry about having people awkward stare at you when you're throwing up Saturday morning #hangoverprobz.

There's just no question: with private bathrooms, its own dining hall, renovated rooms, and great location, Shaw is the ultimate dorm.
